Los Andes Institute is an initiative of the Carmelite Friars of Manjummel Province (OCD) The Carmelite Fathers of Manjummel Province have worked diligently for the last 180 years with the sole purpose of upliftment of the poor and the needy. We have set up hospitals and health care facilities, schools, orphanages and small-scale industrial units to fulfil this objective. However, in the changing socio-economic scenario, we are setting up an educational institution with a commitment to deliver subsidized affordable high-quality education essential for a successful career building. Social and Educational Department of Manjummel Province will offer scholarships and various other financial support for the deserving students.

The LOS ANDES INSTITUTE wants to make a profound impact on the lives of individuals, families and communities. This facility helps people navigate difficult life situations in each one’s life. Besides, we consider how the prolonged, complex and uncertain aftermath of the COVID-19 crisis will present challenges and opportunities for counselling and psychotherapy. Increased mental strain on populations, individuals and professionals is likely to be compounded by further constraints in therapeutic resources. Nevertheless, emerging needs and priorities will offer ground for systems thinking in linking the application of a range of therapeutic frameworks, theories to address global challenges, integration of counselling and psychotherapy into new sectors, service models for the most vulnerable, use of digital approaches, support mechanisms for professionals and interdisciplinary research. Ultimately it provides the tools and insights to manage mental health issues, such as anxiety and depression and it empowers people to lead healthy and fulfilling lives.

A lack of knowledge on how to address mental health/illness resulted in the isolation of many people in psychiatric hospitals and asylums. 

Today, there is growing acceptance of the need for help for mental health issues, such as post-traumatic stress disorder, which can afflict both veterans and the general population. Fuelling the need for counsellors are changes in the criminal justice system, which is moving away from jail time and toward counselling services. Schools and colleges are expanding their mental health services in response to issues of depression, anxiety, relationship problems, suicide and substance use among students. There is also an urgent need for counselling for the elderly.

Hence there is an emerging need for trained counsellors who are passionate about helping others and contributing to the health and wellness of individuals, families and communities, now is the right time to pursue a degree in counselling.

LOS ANDES INSTITUTE is dedicated to training highly skilled counsellors who are committed to serving the needs of individuals and their communities. We want to make our students striving to excel as community leaders in all spheres who model compassionate service to humanity and foster the well-being of society. The online and offline courses in Counselling program prepare working professional students for rewarding careers in clinical mental health and school counselling and discover how to make a positive difference in the lives of those in need.

Mission and Objectives

Los Andes education aims at training of mind and development of personality; it gives both knowledge and skill. Essence of education is wisdom of the right perspective towards life and society.  We also aim to impart training in social skills which is essential in building both personal and professional relationships. Demonstrating strong interpersonal skills can help to accomplish career goals, perform well during the interviews and to expand personal and professional network. Finally, we strive to identify the strength of each student and provide suitable leadership-training in all walks of life.
